Whitefish’s Growing Bike Path System
Fish Trails is the name of the pedestrian bike path system around the town of Whitefish. At present there are only 5 miles of trails in the Fish Trail system, but 2008 is going to be an active year of trail
construction. The big news is that the trail along Wisconsin Avenue is finally being constructed. This two mile section will start from Edgewood (and the BN Loop) and parallel Wisconsin Avenue going north beyond the Big Mountain Road all the way to Houston Point.

Another big project will be a bridge across the Whitefish River at the north end of the Rocksund section of the River Trail. The trail will then continue upriver along city property to the south end of Shady River Estates. It will then go east along an easement given by a new development called Bridgewater and tie into Monegan Road, continuing north along Monegan to Voerman Road, turns west along Voerman and eventually connects up with Cross Currents, Muldown, and Whitefish High School through the Creekwood Subdivision. This trail will provide Whitefish youth safe bicycle access from town and the
schools out to the Smith Fields soccer and baseball fields!

There are several other projects slated as well, and 2008 will be the busiest trail construction year in the history of Fish Trails. If you are not a member of Fish Trails, now is the time to join. Go to www.fishtrails.info for information on how you can become a Fish Trails member.
