Our bikes come with bows

because they are hard to wrap!

The best gift might not be the bike but the freedom, fun, health, exercise and adventure that comes with it! Bikes for birthdays, Christmas (yes, even in northern Montana), Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and graduation are always special for the reason that the gift is more than a bike; it’s all the other joys that come with it!

About Us - Why Shop At Glacier Cyclery?

Since bicycles have a “fit” just like clothing, buying a bicycle as a gift can sometimes entail a little guess work. But with our shop experience and a little information from you about the rider, more often than not we can get the perfect bike, the perfect size and just the right color.

If the gift is for a youth we’ll be able to choose the right size if we know the child’s age, height and what (wheel) size bike they are currently riding. We factor in growth spurts and can show you tricks to make the new bike “grow” with the child. We have a terrific selection of bikes for boy’s and girls.

To know the size of the bicycles that your children ride at

home, look on the side of the tire. You will see a set of

           numbers like 16 x 1.95 or 20 x 1.95.  The first number tells

us the size of the children's bicycle.  The common sizes

           are 12", 16", 20", and 24".

If the bike is for a teen you’ll need to know what kind of bike they want (and what kind of riding they intend to do with it), their inseam length, height, and shoe size helps. Think like a teen, and we’ll have a really good chance of thrilling them.

Selecting a bike for an adult gets a little more complex just because there are so many different styles of bikes. We can help you choose the right style of bike by asking a few questions about the rider. Color can be extremely important to both sexes and that may help direct our choice of model. Gentlemen: please consider that your wife, girl-friend, partner etc. might like a step-through frame. To size the bike we need the riders inseam, height, shoe size (if really long), and whether they have unusually long arms, or torso, or the opposite.

Inseam Length: to measure the inseam for the purposes of sizing a bike, put a tape measure under the persons foot in a shoe that they might wear cycling and run the tape up to their crotch (not pant crotch).

Glacier Cyclery’s bicycle as a gift policy: Because a surprise is a huge part of a present we realize that we might need to do some exchanging after the occasion. We assure you that if all of our best efforts fail and the bicycle doesn’t fit or isn’t otherwise well received that we will be happy to take back any bike that we stock as long as it has not been ridden and is returned right away.  We will exchange the size, get the right color, refund your money, or whatever you’d like. Special order bicycles are just that: special. No refund, no return, best to include the recipient in special ordering a bike!
