At GC we are female friendly.

It might surprise you to know that over half of our customers are women. Maybe that’s because it’s always been important to us that women feel comfortable and have an enjoyable experience at our store. Since the shop’s beginning one of the owners, Jan, has always had an influence in the appearance and atmosphere at Glacier Cyclery. There are some general things that set us apart from most bike shops that women shoppers simply expect from a retail establishment, like clean, neat, organized and well merchandised.  When you enter Glacier Cyclery, you will find……..

About Us - Why Shop At Glacier Cyclery?

A bike boutique rather than a hardware store in appearance. We have intentionally limited the number of bicycles displayed on the floor so that the preeminence of hard goods is minimized. Yes, we have a lot of models, colors and sizes to choose from, but they aren’t all crammed together in the showroom. We display different types of bikes so you can look at them as we help you decide which type will suit your desires the best. The right size for you and an alternate color, well, we’ll get it from the back. Makes decision making easier, and the shop look nicer.

A pleasant and non intimidating staff. There are usually two or three women on staff at Glacier Cyclery during the busy cycling season. Maybe you have been turned off by young know it-all, tech-talking bike shop guys, but even if you haven’t, sometimes it’s just nice to have a gal to talk to and get her perspective. That’s not to discount the men on the Glacier Cyclery staff! They are an exceptional group: nice, polite, knowledgeable and professional. Their wives all ride bikes and they will be able to give you a great deal of valuable assistance. And all year long, Jan is available to help you out. Just call and make an appointment with her if you’d like.

The days of unisex bicycle apparel are long gone. From head to foot we carry a good selection and choice of women specific products. For 2009 we have four helmets designed in shape and colorful graphics for women; jerseys cut with busts and hips in mind, short shorts, medium shorts, long in the inseam shorts, all specifically for women; gloves: narrower in the palm, slimmer in the wrist, and in a full size run in several different styles; shoes: full size runs, in several style selections, and in a range of prices. Not to mention skirts, socks, vests, and jackets all designed with a woman in mind.

Not everything labeled “female” will necessarily fit well, bikes for instance. Some women fit best on traditionally proportioned “diamond frames” (otherwise thought of as men’s frames), others don’t. We have women’s specific mountain bikes and road bikes that are built to fit petite women and long-legged women. These women specific frames won’t necessarily accommodate a tall woman’s proportions unless they are available in a tall frame. That’s where our knowledgeable staff comes to your aid! Our individual and collective years of experience can assist in finding the best frame for you and exchanging seats, stems and other components to make a very comfortable bike, (whether you are cruising around town or dropping off ladders at Spencer!)

From young girls to mature moms, we are committed to attracting and keeping our valued female clientele.
